We need your help building the town hall for the 21st century.

We The People, a project of the Village Square through the Community Foundation of North Florida, is one of 24 projects nationwide that has been awarded a highly competitive Knight Community Information Challenge Grant.

We the People will (GRANT-SPEAK VERSION, read the whole grant-speak shebang HERE.):

• Expand programs covering state and local issues
• Increase accessibility to programming by diverse local citizens
• Create virtual tools to support neighbors reconnecting
• Build a local Wiki as a resource for community problem-solving
• Provide online streaming video feed access to programming
• Help us build a town hall model that can be replicated in other cities

We the People will: (NORMAL HUMAN VERSION)

• Get neighbors together talking about real issues that matter, all while having a good time. (And eating together, or sharing a drink together when possible. You know like -uh – neighbors.)
• Create a place online where people can get and contribute sound information on hot topics without the standard partisan hooey. (Have you ever read the spleen-venting discussion thread after newspaper articles? This will be the opposite of that.)
• Make it so you can participate in the spirit of neighborly discussion in a way that works for you, whether attending a free forum, watching discussions online, hosting a “Sunday Night Supper Club” or holding your very own “Village Circle” on an issue that matters to you.
• Create a big idea for other cities to use, thus making Tallahassee the epicenter of the 21st century version of the totally new, completely old fashioned town hall that America was pretty much built on.
